No School April 1-3, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 31, 2025, 9:00 pm School Closed April 1-3, 2025, Harney County School District #3 (Burns HS, Hines MS, Slater Elementary) Harney County School District #3 decided during a special board meeting on Monday, March 31st, to cancel school for the rest of the week due to unpredictable health and safety concerns in the community from the current flooding. Hines Middle School will continue to be open for showers from Noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (April 1-3rd) and from Noon - 6 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (April 4-6th) The school district will continue to provide grab-and-go meals for children aged 1-18 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at Slater Elementary School. Children do not need to be present, but a parent must pick up the meals for them. Optional sports participation will continue for students who can participate. School will tentatively resume on Monday, April 7, 2025.

Grab and Go Meals

Children's meals relief during Flood Emergency Date: March 31, 2025, 2:45 pm Grab n' go meals served at Slater Elem @ 800 N. Fairview Ave in front of the school kitchen driveway. During school flood closure only. For children ages 1-18. Child does not need to be present to receive the meal, but it must be a parent to pick up the meal. One meal per child daily Breakfast and Lunch together served from 10:30a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
